Nihayath appointed Deputy PG, Fazna as Assistant PG

Mariyam Nihayath has been appointed Deputy Prosecutor General and Aishath Fazna as Assistant Prosecutor General for Prosecutor General’s Office.

Former Civil Court Judge, Nihayath had been working as Assistant PG when she was appointed as Deputy PG.

Nihayath had served as Civil Court judge for a long time before resigning on December 31, 2015.

Meanwhile, Fazna had been serving as a Public Prosecutor when she was appointed as Assistant PG.

Fazna’s appointment means that there are now three officials working as Assistant Prosecutor General – Fazna, Hussein Nashid and Jihada Anees.

Nihayath’s appointment means that there are now two Deputy PGs working for PG Office.

Amendment to PG Act which authorizes PG to hire more than one Deputy PG was ratified by President Abdulla Yameen on April 7.
