Maseeha dies after 24 days in coma

Maseeha Abu Bakr, 39, passed away early Thursday morning, never regaining consciousness after she was injected with an anesthetic for an operation from L. Atoll Gan Regional Hospital.

She has been in a coma for 24 days.

Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) – to where she was transported to after failing to regain consciousness – said that she died at 6:10 am.

Maseeha’s doctor said last Sunday that she was brain dead, and was being kept alive with the help of machines.

Her brother had said that Maseeha was injected with anesthetic for a minor operation to remove a nodule in her armpit.

She was transported to IGMH, Male’, after failing to regain consciousness within the appropriate time.
