President: As the laws stand, there is nothing I can do to help free Nasheed

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that there is nothing he can do help free the former President Mohamed Nasheed as the laws in the country stand as they are.

Speaking to the press at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) after returning from his visit to Malaysia, President Yameen said that the laws in the country now were made with the support of MPs that belonged to MDP.

The President said that an all-party talks was initiated because the President and the government were being blamed on the international stage in the Nasheed case.

While the President Yameen has said this, MDP has sent a letter to the President asking to create a trusted environment to begin the all party talks with the government.
