Maldivian businessmen and a delegation of Saudi Arabian government trade officials visiting Maldives for ‘Maldives’s Trade Mission’ started official business discussions Thursday morning.
The meeting, being held at Hotel Jen, will continue until evening, and is being attended by heads of Maldivian business organizations.
Speaking during the ceremony held to start the talks, Maldivian Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed said that there were multimillion dollar projects being carried out in Maldives, and that now was an opportune time to invest in the country.
He also said that Maldives provided the most profitable investment opportunities in the region.
Deputy Minister of Saudi Arabian Foreign Trade, Ahmed al-Kavani also spoke during the ceremony. He said that the country would provide more technical as well as monetary assistance to Maldives in the future.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Airline – Saudia – started direct flights to Maldives on Wednesday. A move with Minister Saeed said would increase number of Saudi Arabian tourists visiting Maldives, boosting the economy.
