40 ton of drinking water delivered to Foakiadhoo

Drinking water has been supplied to Sh. Foakaidhoo today after the island ran out of water.

Vice President of the Foakaidhoo Island Council, Ahmed Asif told Sun Media today that the Disaster Management Center has now provided water after a request was made when a number of houses ran out of water.

And so the 40 ton of drinking water provided by the Disaster Management Center has now gone to the water tanks in the island with the help of the Police. The water was brought to the island from R. Ungoofaaru.

The Council said that a temporary solution has now been found to the water crisis.

Every year between March and May, some islands have been running out of drinking water due to lack of rain.

Disaster Management Center said that drinking water has been supplied to 22 islands from February to mid-March.

The water through the Disaster Management Center is being provided via selected islands with water plants.
