President Nasheed calls for the arrest of those involved in MMPRC corruption

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has called for the arrest of the people involved in the MVR 1.22 billion stolen from the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) through corruption.

Reports indicates to the former Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb to be in the center of the largest case of corruption in the recent history of the country. A number of high ranking officials of the government allegedly stole USD 79 million (MVR 1.22 billion) which is owed to the state through the MMPRC.

Ex-President Nasheed called for the arrested in a tweet from his official twitter account. He said that it was not only the BML Branch Manager that should be arrested in the case.

Manager of the F. Nilandhoo BML Branch, Qasim Abdulla was arrested for disclosing customer information.

President Nasheed, who is serving a 13-year prison sentence after being convicted of terrorism, is currently in the UK for a done surgery.
