Correctional Service has cleared the medical leave of the former Defense Minister, Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim, who is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence for import and possession of a firearm, to leave for Singapore tonight.
The Media Official of Corrections told Sun Media that Colonel Nazim has been given a period of 21 days for his medical treatment in Singapore.
Last week, the High Court ruled in favor of the original sentence in Colonel Nazim’s appeal case. Nazim’s family said that they intend to appeal the case at the Supreme Court.
While his case was in the appeal process, Nazim spent 44 days in Singapore for his eye treatment last year from April 10.
He was charged under Article 13-A of the items prohibited for import.
