Nazim’s case to be appealed at the Supreme Court

The family of the former Defence Minister, Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim has decided to appeal his 11-year prison sentence at the Supreme Court.

Brother of the former Defence Minister, Adam Azim confirmed to Sun Media that the family intends to appeal the case at the Supreme Court.

All three judges overseeing Nazim’s appeal trial at the High Court – Judge Abdul Rauf Ismail, Judge Ali Sameer and Judge Abdulla Hameed voted unanimously in favor of upholding Criminal Court’s verdict.

Nazim was served the 11-year jail sentence in 2015 after he was found guilty of possession and smuggling a dangerous firearm into Maldives.

He was charged under Article 13-A of the items prohibited for import.
