Remand period has been increased for man arrested on February 27, in connection with the fire that burned down G. Dh. Thinadhoo Powerhouse.
Police media official informed “Sun” that the extension to remand period for the 40-year-old Maldivian man was granted on Monday.
Court granted police an additional remand period of 10 days.
Police had also arrested Assistant Manager of Fenaka – Thinadhoo Branch Ibrahim Ahmed and Mohamed Yameen, who works as a driver at Thinadhoo Powerhouse.
The two people have been released by police.
Thinadhoo Powerhouse burned down on January 25, damaging the three generators used to power the island beyond repair – plunging the whole island into darkness for five days.
