The 30 kilo ambergris, found by a man from Sh. Komandoo last December has been sold off for MVR 11.4 million.
Komandoo Island Council has confirmed to “Sun” that the ambergris has been sold off for that amount. But the council did not reveal to whom the ambergris was sold off to.
Attempt was made first to sell the ambergris found by Abdul Raheem Hassan for MVR 17 million at USD 37 per gram.
But the attempt was unsuccessful.
Speaking in a previous interview with “Sun”, Abdul Raheem’s son-in-law Ibrahim Moosa said that the ambergris was of “A-quality”.
Meanwhile, a 10 kilo ambergris was also found in Foddoo last Wednesday.
