A minor has been arrested with a large quantity of narcotics from N. Velidhoo in a special operation run by Police Intelligence and N. Velidhoo Police Station.
Police said that the minor was arrested last Thursday, in the act of burying some items in an abandoned house in the island.
Police arrested the minor, searched the ground where he was discovered burying the items, and discovered what is suspected of being narcotics packed inside 210 small makeshift cellophane bags.
Police searched the house next to the abandoned house and discovered five additional small cellophane bags buried under the ground, which they also suspect contains narcotics.
The minor was arrested just last month in a case involving narcotics.
His arrest on Thursday comes two days after he was released by Velidhoo Magistrate Court when taken there for a second remand hearing in the earlier case, after the initial 15-day remand period ended.
Police have now been granted a 10-day remand period for the minor, during which he will be kept under arrest in a place decided on by Home Ministry as the case is investigated.
