A’ Level education, which previously started in June/July each year began on Sunday with 2,356 new students.
Education Ministry said that A’ Level education for Grade 11 began in 60 schools across Maldives on Sunday with 2,356 students.
The decision to start A’ Level education earlier means that there are currently three batches of A’ Level students studying in Maldivian schools – the batch of students who started A’ Level education in 2015, batch of students who started Grade 12 in 2015, and students who will complete Grade 12 this year.
As such, there are currently 6,623 students studying their A’ Levels in Maldivian schools.
Education Ministry media official spoke to “Sun” and said that the decision to start A’ Level education earlier was because of the large gap between end of O’ Level education and start of A’ Level education.
The Ministry had therefore wanted to have the students spend the time period more productively.
With the new change, A’ level exams will also begin in October/November along with O’ Level students.
