AC ferry service begins between Malé and Hulhumalé

Inaugurating the MTCC Premium Link, air-conditioned ferry service has begun between Malé and Hulhumalé.

As the AC ferries begin service, a special lounge has also been established at both terminals for the passengers using the AC ferry.

At a special ceremony held at the Hulhumalé ferry terminal, the AC ferry and ferry lounge was inaugurated by the Environment Minister, Thoriq Ibrahim.

The ticket price for the AC ferry is at MVR 10. Two AC ferries with a capacity of 146 passengers each would be making 15 minute trips between Malé and Hulhumalé starting today.

To assure safety on board the AC ferry, CCTV cameras have been installed aboard. The new ferries are scheduled to make trips every 30 minutes at peak hours and every one hour at off-peak hours.

MTCC say that people can book tickets prior for a specific time similar to their express ferry service. And said that the express ferry service would continue along with the AC ferries.

Last year, MTCC introduced a double-deck ferry. The company says that they are working hard to improve the ferry service.
