Expatriate worker in Maldives who was hit by an iron rod which fell from a building under construction in Henveriru ward of Male’ City has died after more than a week in Intensive Care Unit of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
The man was of Bangladeshi nationality.
He died hooked up to a ventilator, without regaining consciousness after the incident.
The man was injured while working in the stairwell of the building under construction – located near Mookai Hotel, on February 20.
The iron rod fell from the top of the 9-storey building.
The incident led to brain hemorrhage. Which IGMH tried to rectify with surgery. The man’s condition failed to improve even after the surgery.
IGMH information officer, Zeenath Ali Habeeb said that the man died last Tuesday.
