MDP deputy leader Shifaz arrested

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) deputy leader Mohamed Shifaz was arrested from near Criminal Court on Monday.

Police have said that Shifaz was arrested for disobeying police orders from near Justice Building.

Meanwhile, hearing on trial against MDP protestors who held a demonstration at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport to call for former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed was cancelled on Monday as one of the protestors now lives out of the country.

Criminal Court was supposed to issue a verdict during Monday’s hearing.
