PPM members at Majlis increases to 47

Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) members at People’s Majlis have increases to 47 after three Jumhoory Party MPs signed up for PPM.

The announcement was made by Majlis Speaker Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed during Monday’s Majlis sitting.

Those who signed up for PPM are Hanimaadhoo representative Hussein Shahudhee, South Thinadhoo representative Abdulla Ahmed, and Billeihdhoo representative Ahmed Mubeen.

MP Shahudhee signed up for PPM during the PPM-MDA ceremony held on January 21, while MP Abdulla Ahmed and MP Mubeen signed up for PPM during November, 2015.

The new change means that there are now only eight MPs representing Jumhoory Party in the Majlis.

There are now 47 PPM members, 22 Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) members, 8 JP members, 5 Maldives Developmental Alliance (MDA) members, one Adhaalath Party member and two independent members.
