Adhaalath Party leader Imran Abdulla’s 12-year jail sentence was appealed on Sunday after his lawyer raised 12 issues with the case.
Imran’s lawyer Husnu Suood spoke to “Sun” about it and said that he had sent all relevant paperwork to Criminal Court on Sunday.
Criminal Court now needs to send the paperwork to High Court.
Verdict issued by Judge Abdul Baaree Yoosuf was also based on 12 points.
Imran was sentenced to 12 years in prison after he was convicted of terrorism after he was found guilty of riling people up in his speech on May 1, 2016 during opposition protest, leading to protestors breaking through police barricades and causing harm to police officers and public property.
