President: Commonwealth would make decision today, will accept whichever step they take

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that we would know what steps the Commonwealth would be taking against the Maldives and whichever they decided, it would be accepted.

Speaking at the inauguration of the drinking water system at A.A. Ukulhas today, President Yameen said that the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) may pass sanctions against the Maldives today. And if such actions are taken, after praising God, the country would be working to overcome it.

“Even if foreign states criticize the decisions made within the sovereignty and (the international) communities take steps, we will accept it with gratitude. And with praise to ___ we will move towards our target.” President Abdulla Yameen said.

President Yameen said that the problems in the Maldives are getting international attention because some people invite such things. And no matter how much the international community pressures, the Maldives has separated the three branches of the state and the President can’t interfere with Judicial ruling now or in the future.

The President called to the Commonwealth to inspect how the institutes of the Maldives work before the whole country is getting the “bad taste” due to the unlawful actions of some people.

President Yameen ended his speech by saying that he would call the Prime Ministers of both countries to “change” the problem facing the Maldives.
