Woman arrested in Zuha murder case freed

Maldivian woman who was arrested for investigation into murder of Hawwa Zuha, 23, who was found dead on the road has been freed.

Total three people were arrested in the case. The Maldivian man was released on January 24; the Maldivian woman on February 4. The only suspect under arrest now is the Bangladeshi man who allegedly murdered Zuha.

Police media official spoke to “Sun” regarding the case on Monday, and said that the woman was released by court. But that she had been asked to inform police if she wanted to travel out of the country.

Deputy Head of Crime Investigation Command, Chief Superintendent Mohamed Riyaz said that police had found proof from their investigation that Zuha was murdered by a Bangladeshi man inside an empty room in H. Laaluge.

Police said that Zuha had been strangled to death, based on the preliminary postmortem report.

Zuha’s mother had said that her daughter had marks on her neck and thighs when she was found dead.
