Judge Bari files complaint with police over being photographed, threatened

Acting Chief Justice of Criminal Court, Judge Abdul Bari Yoosuf has filed complaint with police over being photographed and threatened.

Letter sent by Judge Bari to Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef read that he was photographed and threatened while on the street to the north of Justice Building at around 1:34 pm on February 18.

Judge Bari also included the license plate number of the motorcycle the alleged offender was riding, in the letter to CP Areef.

He said in the letter that the alleged offender had said that, “I need to take your photograph. We know what you judges are up to. You do what you want. I will take your photograph.”

Judge Bari requested that the man be prosecuted under rule to safeguard honor of the courts and other laws.

Police media official said that Criminal Court had filed such a complaint, and that they were now investigating the case.
