Defence Minister: Every citizen has a responsibility in developing the country

Defence Minister, Adam Shareef has said that every citizen has a responsibility in the development of the country and every citizen must fulfill that obligation.

Speaking at a ceremony held at the Coast Guard Building, today, Minister Shareef said that every citizen must work responsibly to ensure peace in the country.

He said that some actions and words could endanger and sever ties of unity and peace among the people and causing gloom among the people because of it could obstruct the development and progress of the country leading to civil unrest.

“In fulfilling our obligations, we have to work responsilbly. Otherwise, we cannot establish peace and tranquility and work to develop the country.” The Defence Minister said.

Minister Adam Shareef advised the people to stay away from anything that could affect the independence of the country.

Defence Minister Shareef said that the Maldivian Military would always remain in service protecting state property and the rights of the people within the constitution and assured that they would give no regard to any color or mentality.
