Maldivian seaplane damaged during take off

A seaplane of the National airline, Maldivian, has had it’s wing damaged during a takeoff.

Head of Administration at Island Aviation, Ali Nashaath told Sun Media tonight that the wing of a seaplane of Maldivian was damaged during takeoff from Niyaama Resort this evening and it’s flights have been cancelled and the incident is under investigation.

He said that no passengers were injured during the incident.

“A team of our aircraft engineers has now been sent to Niyaama Resort. The information received so far, damage on the wings was discovered during takeoff. But it is unclear why the incident happened.” Nashaath said.

According to Island Aviation, the damage to the plane and any further details on the incident that took place around 5 p.m. today would be coming in tomorrow.

An official from Niyaama Resort said that the seaplane hit it’s wings on the island’s jetty during takeoff taking some damage and any further details on the incident would be given by Maldivian.

Maldivian has scheduled seaplanes to Dh. Atoll, Thaa. Atoll and Baa. Atoll with DHC-6 Twin Otter seaplane aircrafts.
