Survey begins to construct asphalt roads in Addu

Housing Ministry has begun survey to construct additional asphalt roads in Addu City.

Deputy Housing Minister Abdulla Muthalib spoke to “Sun” on Monday and said that the survey had begun, and that they were assessing the streets to see where more asphalt roads can be constructed.

“It’s at the formulation stage. It will decided after the survey where, and how many asphalt roads will be constructed,” said Muthalib.

The Addu City Road Construction Phase II is included in the State budget. Asphalt roads will be built in Hithadhoo, Feydhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo and Hulhumeedhoo.

Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) was tasked with repairing and maintaining Addu City roads and looking after Addu City Link Road last September.
