Universal: Did not take part in the embezzlement of MMPRC

Universal Enterprises has said that they have no part in the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation’s (MMPRC) embezzlement of state funds and warns about taking legal steps for smudging their name with accusations.

In a press statement issued by Universal said that they strongly assure that the company was in no capacity involved in the embezzlement of state funds by the MMPRC.

The company said that SOF Pvt. Ltd. and the former Attorney General, Husnu Suood has released false information that tarnishes the reputation of Universal and they company strongly condemns their actions.

“The legal steps that need to be taken regarding the matter would be taken.” The statement by Universal said.

Universal said that they have always been conducting business in the Maldives and internationally up to the international standard.

While Universal has denied any involvement with the corruption of MMPRC, MP for the Maamigili constituency, Qasim Ibrahim has also denied receiving any funds from SOF Pvt. Ltd.

Speaking on VTV today regarding the matter, Qasim said that no such money has been received by Jumhooree Party (JP), Villa Company or by himself.
