A delegation from Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMEG) arrived in Maldives on Sunday morning, upon invitation of Maldivian government.
The delegation is led by CMAG Vice-Chair Carl Greenidge and Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guyana, Carolyn Rodrigues Birkett; and includes Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Kenya - Dr Amina Mohamed, and Foreign Secretary of India - Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
The delegation was welcomed upon arrival at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) by Maldivian Foreign Minister, Dhunya Maumoon.
The delegation is to stay in Maldives for two days. And will be assessing the political situation in Maldives during their stay.
A meeting was held with Maldivian government officials – led by Dhunya – and CMAG delegation on Sunday at Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A delegation from European Union is also set to arrive in Maldives on Sunday.
The delegation will also be meeting high-ranking Maldivian government officials – including People’s Majlis Speaker, Abdulla Maseeh.
