Home Minister: Without operation soon Nasheed could be partially paralyzed

Home Minister Umar Naseer has said that if the former President Mohamed Nasheed, currently in UK, does not go through with the operation soon, he could be paralyzed on one side.

The Home Minister told Sun Media today that since the former President could be paralyzed if the surgery is delayed, as the Home Minister he urges to go forth with the surgery.

Minister Umar Naseer said that the lawyers of the former President were concerned about the delays in allowing leaving the country for medical treatment. And the former President’s international and local lawyers said that they were concerned about the delays because he was facing paralysis.

“Nasheed is a very sick person. He is someone who has one side numbed according to his layers. We haven’t seen him doing a surgery for partial numbness yet.” Home Minister Umar Naseer said.

Minister Naseer said that he hopes that President Nasheed would do the surgery soon.

The first thing President Nasheed did when he arrived in UK was meeting with the British Prime Minister, David Cameron. Since then he has held different press conferences and done TV interviews. And after that, under the advisement of Cameron, he has consulted with a doctor according to President Nasheed’s Office.
