New artificial beach opening ceremony delayed

Housing Ministry has changed the date of opening ceremony of new artificial beach being readied towards west of Male’ from Thursday to next Sunday.

An official from Housing Ministry spoke to “Sun” and said that the opening ceremony had been delayed to next Sunday, but did not give any reason for the delay.

Work on the new artificial beach began towards end of 2015.

The beach is to include a barbeque area, two fishing platforms and bathrooms.

Housing Ministry has said that it would be a place that the public would find quite enjoyable.

The Ministry has said that the surrounding roads would renovated as well.
