BML provides aid to Thinadhoo citizens

BML provides aid to Thinadhoo citizensBank of Maldives (BML) has provided some items to assist citizens of G. Dh. Thinadhoo who are living without electricity after their powerhouse burned down last Monday night.

A BML official who spoke to “Sun” on Saturday said that the items donated include 2,000 candles, 300 LED flashlights, extension cords to charge phones and mosquito repellant.

The donated items were provided to Thinadhoo citizens through Thinadhoo Island Council.

Official from BML said that their staff working in BML Thinadhoo Branch were helping Thinadhoo citizens charge their phones and helping distribute aid provided by well-wishers.

The official said that BML services were being provided despite the power outage, and that their staff were working on arranging salaries of civil servants working in the atoll.

10,400 people of Thinadhoo have been living without electricity since Monday night. Fenaka Corporation has said tentatively that they may be able to provide electricity to the island this Saturday.
