Nilandhoo Island lounge destroyed in a fire

A fire has destroyed the Island Lounge of F. Nilandhoo.

President of the Nilandhoo Island Council, Ahmed Ali told Sun Media that a fire took place around 9:30 p.m. tonight at the lounge at the historical area. He said that the cause of the fire is yet unclear.

“The place is somewhere with a lot of historical items there. The place can no longer be used. The whole place burned down.” Ahmed Ali said.

A Police Media Official told Sun Media that a fire at the historical area of Nilandhoo was reported to the Police tonight.

The official said that the fire was controlled quickly by the efforts of the Police and the people of the island.
