Two generators taken to Thinadhoo to provide electricity

The two generators sent from Malé City to G. Dh. Thinadhoo has arrived in the island to resolve the power crisis on the island.

Thinadhoo Island Council said that the generators can be off loaded around sun down and it would be taken to the powerhouse sometime tonight and begin service in 12 hours.

FENAKA Corporation said that the generators arrived today were two 1 megawatt generators in good condition and they can provide electricity permanently.

The Thinadhoo powerhouse was burned down on Monday night causing a temporary blackout across the island.

Managing Director of FENAKA Corporation, Mohamed Nimal said that it would take two months to overcome the burning down of their powerhouse on the island and resume normal services.

He said that resolving the problem and resuming to 24-hour electricity service would cost MVR 35 million.
