Farooq Mohamed Hassan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Local Government Authority.
The post was left vacant after LGA’s CEO for the past four years, Dr. Ahmed Shukury Hussain handed in his resignation in early December, 2015.
The former Deputy Home Minister, Farooq, was appointed CEO during LGA board meeting held on Wednesday – the first board meeting of the year.
Farooq has served in different capacities within the government including as Deputy Director General at Environment Ministry, Deputy Director General of Environment Research Center, Director of Education Ministry, Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, State Home Minister, and Deputy Health Minister.
He was last serving as Senior Manager – Project Development of Riolo Investment Private Limited.
Born in D. Kudahuvadhoo, Farooq completed his post-graduate degree in Engineering in Water Resource Technology in Brussels, Belgium in 1993.
He completed his under-graduate degree in 1987 from Jeddah University in Saudi Arabia.
