Three to be investigated for perjury in drug case

The Prosecutor General has asked the Police to investigate three people who gave false testimonies during a drug case involving 24 kilos of drugs.

An official from the Prosecutor General’s Office said that the investigation was requested after the three people gave false testimonies at a hearing in the trial on 18 January.

While four people gave anonymous testimonies on that day, three people testified refusing to the crime implying that the smuggling of 24 kilos of drugs never took place. But they gave a full statement on how the smuggling took place during the investigation.

The official said that the Prosecutor General’s Office would be pressing charges against the three people as soon as the Police complete their investigations.

The state is pursuing drug smuggling charges against Ismail Moosa (G. Trust Home) and Abdulla Sofwath (H. Ever Peace) for smuggling 24 kilos of drugs from the Iranian fishing boat “Horumoz” on a small dinghy in February 2014.
