Two medicines and an injection imported to the country has been banned

The import and sale of two commonly used medications and an injection in the country has been banned by the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA).

An announcement from the MFDA today said that they are conducting tests to check the safety and quality of the modern medications being sold in the country.

And so medications from the Essential Medicine List has been randomly selected and tested according to the MFDA.

Medications banned by the MFDA:

• Azileb-250, 250 mg, batch no. T-524

• L-Trim DS, 800 mg + 160 mg, batch no. T-4853

• Azeet-500, 500 mg, batch no. AZFT1402

Injection banned by the MFDA:

• Hycimax Injection 20 mg/ml

Until a decision has been made after further investigation, MFDA has banned all strengths, dosage forms of the brands.

The MFDA said that they are receiving complaints about the injections from India’s Acme Life Science and their investigation has revealed that the injections contain harmful elements.
