Dr. Muizzu: Bridge project is the highest priority project for China

Housing Minister Dr.Mohamed Muizzu has said that the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge being built between Malé and Hulhulé is the highest priority project by China.

Talking to the press after returning from his official visit to China, Minister Dr. Muizzu said that he met with the heads of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the contractor of the bridge project, CCCC Second Harbor Engineering and discussed the process and plans for the bridge project.

“As the Chinese Government always guarantees us, they guaranteed us at the meeting that unlike other Chinese projects in foreign countries, this project is a high priority to the Chinese Government.” Dr. Muizzu said.

He said that the Chinese Ministry of Commerce is monitoring the project closely and that is different to other Chinese projects abroad.

Minister Dr. Muizzu said that the heads of the CCCC Second Harbor Engineering informed on the details of the project and while the company has conducted many projects in different countries before, they have not given this much priority to a project.

While the President of the Company has been assigned as the head of the project team, the Housing Minister said that this is the first time that the President of the Company is overlooking a specific project.
