Fariva Electronics burns down

Fariva Electronics, situated in Faamudheyri Magu in Male’, has burnt down.

Fire erupted inside the two-story shop at around 4 am, early Wednesday morning, and burnt down the whole shop to the ground.

The fire also caused damage to a house next-door.

No one suffered any physical harm during the incident.

Police said that all merchandise inside the shop had burned beyond recovery, and that the fire had also caused damage to household and electronic items in the house next-door.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Information Officer, Major Adnan spoke to “Sun” and said that police had been able to control the fire at around 5 am, and that by the time – the fire and resultant smoke had caused damage to nearby buildings – including the house to the south of the shop catching fire.

“The fire had been widespread. It took a long time to bring it under control – isn’t it? It caused extensive damage,” said Adnan.

Details of the extent of damage are unavailable at the moment.
