Dunya: Maldivians have no difficulty obtaining German Visa

Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has said that Maldivians have no difficulty obtaining the visa to travel to Germany.

In an interview with the state media, Minister Dunya said that some countries have made changes to the "Shengen Visa" regime established although Maldivians have no difficulty obtaining the VISA.

The Foreign Ministry had previously said that it is not only Maldivians that face difficulties in acquiring a "Shengen Visa."

Minister Dunya said that a large number of German tourists visit the Maldives and since it is a country trust conducts a lot of international business, the ministry has discussed with the German ambassador on resolving the visa issue.

She also said that they are working on establishing a visa center in the country as it once was before.

To acquire a German Visa, Maldives currently have to travel to the German Embassy in Sri Lanka. The Foreign Ministry said that ministers and government officials have to follow the same procedure as well.
