MMPRC audit to be released next week

Auditor General’s Office has announced that a special audit of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) would be released next week.

Assistant Auditor General Ibrahim Aiman told Sun Media that the audit would include issues related to the lease of islands, and management of MMPRC.

“The report contains details of management issues, governance, accountability, internal controls, financial issues, and all areas,” Aiman said.

The government has ordered an audit of MMPRC from 17 November 2013 onwards.

The current Auditor General is Hassan Ziyath, brother of Abdulla Ziyath, who served as Managing Director of MMPRC during this period.

Hassan Ziyath said earlier that he would not be involved in the MMPRC audit in any way, and that it would be conducted under the direct supervision of Aiman.
