Foreign Ministry: Passports of Dunya and Faris was never confiscated

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted the news reports claiming that the Sri Lankan government has seized the passports of Dunya Maumoon and her sibling and MP for the Mulaku constituency, Faris Maumoon.

The officially Twitter account of the ministry tweeted today saying that they were never blacklisted nor their passports have been seized.

Some media outlets have reported that the passports of the Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon and MP Faris Maumoon were blacklisted by the Sri Lankan Immigration and their passports were seized when they arrived in the country last December on a personal visit. And said that it was done so by mistake. The media outlets that carried the news say that they had to wait at the airport for about two hours at the airport.
