Prisoners to wear orange uniforms

Maldives Correctional Service has said that it had made the decision to make prisoners wear an orange uniform while they are in prison.

Media officer for the institution informed “Sun” that prisoners would be made to wear the uniform starting March or April, 2016.

There is already a uniform designed for prisoners, but they are only required to wear it when they are accompanied out of prison for medical treatment or to court.

They wear plainclothes when in prison.

The uniforms will be sewn by the prisoners themselves.
