IGMH: Sexually abused woman

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has said that the condition of the woman sexually abused by her husband remains critical.

The woman from Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo has been in intensive care for several weeks.

Doctors said last week that she had suffered injuries to her brain and her condition was too critical for surgery.

IGMH Spokesperson Zeenath Ali Habeeb said that she was taken ADK Hospital as requested by the family on Monday, 21 December 2015, but returned to IGMH later. Doctors at both hospitals have not been able to operate on her given her condition.

Her husband, Ibrahim Shah, 40, has been arrested.
