Police denies dropping suspicions against Adheeb in the Presidential Launch explosion

Maldives Police Service has denied the former Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb’s lawyer about dropping the suspicions of involvement of the former Vice President in the explosion on board the Presidential Launch.

Refuting lawyer Shameem’s statement about Adheeb being cleared of suspicion in the explosion, Police said that they have not informed anyone that any change has come to the suspicions against the former Vice President and that they are still investigating the Presidential Launch explosion.

Police said that they would take legal steps if people continue to spread false rumors to mislead the public about the work of the Police. And called that no lawyer do that.

In a press statement from Adheeb’s lawyer Hussian Shameem claiming that the charges against Adheeb has been proven false, he said that Adheeb was first arrested for suspicion of his involvement in the Presidential Launch explosion.

But on the first in the Police investigation into the launch explosion, only “two-three questions, no more” were asked.

Shameem said that that Police has said that Adheeb is suspected in the MMPRC (Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation) case alone.

“That is, the Police confirming that the suspicions Ahmed Adheeb was first arrested for, (his involvement in the Presidential Launch explosion,) he has been cleared of and released from that detention. Police said that Ahmed Adheeb is now being suspected of only the MMPRC case.” Shameem’s press statement said.

Shameem said that the government’s voice about detonating a bomb on board the Presidential launch and high treason were words led by people envious of Adheeb’s political career, without any proof for a political motive.
