Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has changed their regulation to clear cargo that were being cleared from their Hulhumale' port to her cleared from their Malé port.
Before the change, MPL moved the cargo from Malé to Hulhumale' to be cleared.
CEO of MPL Ibrahim Shared told Sun Media that they have stopped moving cargo due to problems with some equipments and the customers have requested the change as well.
"What we have been doing before was we move the cargo to Hulhumale' port on a barge. Move our and then issued it. But now we can't do that due to equipment problems. And cargo would move faster when changed to Malé." Ibrahim Shareef said.
Shareef said that due to delays in moving the cargo to Hulhumale' port, customers are also faced with delays.
Although cargo clearance at the Hulhumale' port has been moved to Malé, there are other operations taking pace at the Hulhumale' port.
