President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said today that the government has a zero tolerance policy on corruption.
A statement released by the President’s Office regarding the current investigations by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) says that the National Unity Government is committed to an open and transparent system of governance, and that the government remains fully committed to the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
“We acknowledge the crucial work carried out by the Anti-Corruption Commission and fully support any action taken by the Commission. Our policy on corruption is zero tolerance. Anybody found guilty of corrupt practice will face the full force of the law regardless of the position they hold. Nobody is above the law.”
ACC visited Immigration Department last Thursday to investigate the border control system issue which is suspected to involve corruption.
