Names and photos of child abuse convicts published

Ministry of Law and Gender has published names and photos of child sex abuse convicts.

The list contains 75 names, and photos were included for everyone except one.

It includes one woman, three Bangladeshis, and one Sri Lankan.

The list was published in accordance with Article 57 of the Child Abuse (Special Provisions) Act.

The law states that information related to child sex abuse convicts shall be made available to the public via SMS. This system has not yet been set up.

The Attorney General said, “We want to expand this service. The law aims to allow employers to check applicants’ track record to ensure they are not child sex abuse convicts.”
