PG questioned in closed sub-committee meeting

Summary
Parliament’s Sub-Committee on Independent Institutions has passed to summon Prosecutor General Muhthaz Muhsin. The Sub-Committee consists of Addu-Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam, Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed, Fonadhoo MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Dhangethi MP Ilham Ahmed, and Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ali Mauroof. A no-confidence motion was submitted to the parliament against Muhsin earlier today. Muhsin has denied rumours that he had resigned. He said that he was appointed following approval by the parliament, so his removal should also be decided by the parliament.

PG Muhuthaaz Muhusin said that he spent time with MP for Kendhoo constituency and lawyer Ali Hussain and some other MPs at a restaurant near the Parliament and that MP Ali Hussain is not a lawyer representing any of the people arrested in the Presidential launch explosion. He said that MP Ali Hussain was a classmate and if the reason for his resignation is MP Ali Hussain, then he is ready to resign.

PG Muhusin denied the allegation against him by MP Abdul-Raheem Abdulla of the Fonadhoo constituency. PG Muhusin said that he did not meet with any lawyers of the people arrested in the explosion of on board the Presidential Launch.
