No-confidence motion against PG submitted to parliament

A no-confidence motion has been submitted to the parliament against Prosecutor General (PG) Muhthaz Muhsin.

This has been confirmed by a member of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), who spoke to Sun Media on the condition of anonymity.

The Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions will meet at 2:00 p.m. today to discuss the motion.

This follows reports that no charges would be filed against former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb. This was denied by Muhsin last night.

Muhsin has also earlier today denied rumours of his resignation. He said that he was appointed following approval by the parliament, so his removal should also be decided by the parliament.
