Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested that the issue of flats given to Judges be reviewed.
ACC has indicated that the decision by Parliament’s Finance Committee to notify Judicial Service Commission and Judicial Administration to grant ownership to Judges of flats provided to them, is against the Constitution and Parliament regulations.
ACC said that this decision violates article 102 of the Constitution, article 38 of Judge’s Act, and article 100 (a) (11) of Parliament regulations.
They indicated that the decision by Parliament’s Finance Committee to grant ownership to Judges once they complete the paying the full amount of the flats through monthly rent payments, gives a privilege to some Judges, which is in conflict with the regulation pertaining to Judges.
ACC notified Parliament’s Finance Committee to review this decision on 23 May.
