Agreement signed with Chinese company for 1,500 housing units in Hulhumal

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has signed an agreement with a Chinese company for the construction of 1,500 middle-range housing units in Hulhumalé.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony at Hotel Jen today by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and General Manager of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) Shi Jintao.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Muizzu said that this is the first batch of housing units to be established under Phase 2 of the Hulhumalé Development Project.

The estimated time of completion for the project, set to begin next year, is May 2018.

Dr Muizzu said that 7,100 housing units would be established in total under Phase 2 of the Hulhumalé Development Project, and several groups have already expressed interest for undertaking these projects.
