ACC probes award of Hulhumal

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an investigation into the award of the road construction project under Phase 2 of the Hulhumalé Development Project to an Indian company.

The cost of the project awarded by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to an Indian consortium is $40.3 million.

ACC President Hassan Luthfy said an investigation is under way following several complaints, but declined to provide details.

The contract for the 18-month project signed on 28 October 2015. HDC Managing Director Mohamed Simon told Sun Media then, that the project would see the construction of main roads in the area reclaimed under Phase 2 of the Hulhumalé Development Project.
