Madrid loses at Sevilla, surrenders league lead to Barcelona

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Neymar scored a spectacular goal to help Barcelona capture the Spanish league lead Sunday as Real Madrid's unbeaten start to the season was brought to an end with a 3-2 loss at Sevilla.

Barcelona will take its three-point lead to Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for the season's first "clasico" match after the international break.

Premier League pacesetters Manchester City and Arsenal both drew, while Liverpool experienced its first loss under Juergen Klopp at the hands of Crystal Palace.

SPAIN

Madrid's 14-game unbeaten run to start the season ended in Seville.

Ciro Immobile scored his first goal for Sevilla before Ever Banega and Fernando Llorente added strikes to complete the rally after Sergio Ramos put Madrid ahead. James Rodriguez scored a consolation goal with the match's final kick, but otherwise Rafa Benitez's side had no answers.

"Sevilla played a great match and we played poorly," said Ramos, who was substituted after hurting his shoulder while scoring the 22nd-minute opener. "It's at grounds like this that leagues are won."

Hours before, Neymar continued his scoring streak by netting a brace — with Luis Suarez scoring another— in a 3-0 win at home over Villarreal.

Neymar's second goal was a beauty in the 85th when he used a sublime touch to flip the ball over a defender before spinning and driving it home.

Neymar and Suarez lead Barcelona with 13 goals each this season and have scored 20 of Barcelona's 23 goals since Lionel Messi tore a ligament in his left knee on Sept. 26.

Also, Antoine Griezmann scored three minutes into stoppage time give Atletico Madrid a 1-0 victory over Sporting Gijon that lifted it into third place at four points back.

ENGLAND

Yannick Bolasie and Scott Dann scored to give Crystal Palace a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield, handing Klopp his first loss in his seventh game in charge.

Manchester City stayed top despite being held to a 0-0 draw against bottom-place Aston Villa in Remi Garde's first game in charge, as second-place Arsenal drew 1-1 against Tottenham in the north London derby.

Harry Kane scored his sixth goal in four games for Tottenham in the 32nd minute, but Arsenal rescued a point when Kieran Gibbs came on as a substitute to score his first league goal since March 2012 in the 77th.

ITALY

Inter Milan and Fiorentina remained level at the top of Serie A after wins at Torino and Sampdoria, while Roma kept up the pressure with a 2-0 victory over Lazio in the capital derby.

Fiorentina won 2-0 to remain ahead on goal difference after Inter recorded a third successive 1-0 victory from Geoffrey Kondogbia's goal. Roma is a point behind with Napoli a point further back after Gonzalo Higuain scored his ninth league goal of the season to help it beat Udinese 1-0.

Fiorentina knew it had to win to move back level with Inter and took the lead when Josip Ilicic converted a penalty in the 10th.

Ilicic combined with Nikola Kalinic just before the hour for the Croatia forward to double Fiorentina's lead.

Juventus came back from a goal down to win 3-1 at Empoli and move above Lazio on goal difference.

Sassuolo beat relegation-threatened Carpi 1-0, while Genoa rescued a 2-2 draw at fellow struggler Frosinone despite playing more than 50 minutes with 10 men. Palermo beat Chievo Verona 1-0.

GERMANY

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's 14th goal of the season gave Borussia Dortmund a 3-2 win over bitter rival Schalke in the Bundesliga's 87th Ruhr derby.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored twice for Schalke in the losing effort.

Also, Claudio Pizarro's first goal in his third stint for Werder Bremen helped earn a 2-1 win at bottom club Augsburg.

FRANCE

Alexandre Lacazette scored a hat trick as Lyon beat bitter local rival Saint-Etienne 3-0, lifting it into second place in the French league at 10 points behind runaway leader Paris Saint-Germain.

Lacazette, last season's league top scorer with 27 goals, scored a brilliant first goal in the 41st minute, pounced for the second in the 59th and rounded goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier to stroke in the third in injury time.

Also, Bordeaux beat Monaco 3-1, and Nice won 1-0 at Marseille.
